We are a very friendly and welcoming society which meets in the historic Assembly Room, Chichester at 2.00pm on the second Tuesday of every month from October to June. We have a varied, interesting and stimulating programme of lectures given by leading experts in their fields on all aspects of the visual arts and architecture, sometimes linked to music, drama and literature.
Our Visits Programme takes us to museums, art galleries, stately homes and gardens. Some visits are planned to link with a lecture, while others are arranged to coincide with current major exhibitions in London and elsewhere.
Special Interest Days give an opportunity for an extended look at the chosen topic.
Our annual Summer Social takes place in an historic or arts-related setting, chosen to offer new insights into the venue itself and to provide an opportunity for socialising over a meal or drinks.
We support Young Arts through our contribution to local schools, which enables them to develop specific projects. In conjunction with other Sussex member societies of The Arts Society (TAS).
We are jointly sponsoring the University of Chichester Arts Graduates’ Show at the Oxmarket Contemporary, St Andrew's Court, Chichester with TAS Chichester and TAS City of Chichester. The Show will take place 24th June to 7th July .
Our members have the opportunity to be involved in volunteering through Church Recorders and Heritage Volunteers.
In these ways we hope to support The Arts Society in its aims to allow more people to engage, to appreciate and above all enjoy the arts and discover how they enrich our lives.
